Emmas dreadlocks with loose flowy ends

dreadlocks Sep 04, 2017

Emma wanted a change with her dreadlocks that she had been having the past 2 years made by me. They have shrunk over the past two years abit so she feelt that it was time to do something new aswell so she asked me if it was possible to add some loose hair to her ends to get a more flowy look.

Here is a picture of Emma before I started to make her dreadlocks

So how long will the loose ends last, it will stay like this for about a year then you have to add some more loose hair to get the full flowy look again.

To get the end curly to Emmas dreadlocks I’ve used a curling iron to make the nice wave.

I use a mixture of different colurs of human hair to achive this look. I tend to make the dreadlock in the bottom a bit darker and the top part a bit lighter to get the right effect. This makes the hair to look so much more natural.

Jill came to me for dreadlocks with extensions

dreadlocks Sep 03, 2017

This is Jill, she came to me to start her dreadlock journey, she wanted some loose hair and the rest of the hair in dreadlocks. In this pic I share with you the importance of having clean lines between the loose hair and the dreadlocks. You have to make sure to also brush the hair on a regular basis just to make sure that the loose hair does not dread together with the dreadlocks.

Here is a picture of Jill before I started to make her dreadlocks

Jill was worried that her hair was to thin to get dreadlocks done. This is not true at all, you just have to addapt the hair after what it is that you want to do.

Here you can see how I decided to devid the hair up when I was making the partings between the loose hair and the hair that was going to be dreadlocks.

How are your dreadlocks made?
What did you think was good about it and what was bad? Share your story in the comments below and we will make a community blog post about this:

  • h.a.r.m.o.n.y.b.r.iMine was down the natural way, but I do not have them in my head anymore but I miss them so much
  • banoscheseback combing & crochet... the first lady who did my hair didn't do a good job, then found someone else who cleaned up the mess ... almost 4 years & loving them
  • bhardtha1Natural neglect.... Really like that each dread is unique and the only downside is they do what they want, and you can't really control the over all outcome:)
  • mylocksflopHad mine started with the crochet method 3 years ago and haven't touched them since besides pulling them apart and whatnot
  • baderalsaadBack combing and crochet. Took 12 hours over 2 days but well worth it. Got 44 of them....
