What is inside of dreadlocks?

How many times have you heard the story about Bob Marley’s dreadlocks and what they found inside his dreads when he died?

The story is that he had several new beetle species in his dreadlocks when they cut them off (or some kind of insects).
The fact is that Mr Bob did not even have any dreads on his head when he died due to that he was to weak to hold them up.

There are so many different stories that are going around, people usually say that a friend of a friend know a guy or a girl that had a spider living in their dreadlocks, or any other kind of insect.

You might have heard that you use dirt or poo to make dreadlocks? Is there any truth in this?
Well if you are in the Namib Desert in Africa you can find the Himba tribe, the women of this tribe wears dreadlocks and cover their whole body and dreads with a red clay that can be found in the desert.
But apart from tribes in nature reserves in the world you will not find dreadheads that have made their dreadlocks...

Emmas dreadlocks with loose flowy ends

dreadlocks Sep 04, 2017

Emma wanted a change with her dreadlocks that she had been having the past 2 years made by me. They have shrunk over the past two years abit so she feelt that it was time to do something new aswell so she asked me if it was possible to add some loose hair to her ends to get a more flowy look.

Here is a picture of Emma before I started to make her dreadlocks

So how long will the loose ends last, it will stay like this for about a year then you have to add some more loose hair to get the full flowy look again.

To get the end curly to Emmas dreadlocks I’ve used a curling iron to make the nice wave.

I use a mixture of different colurs of human hair to achive this look. I tend to make the dreadlock in the bottom a bit darker and the top part a bit lighter to get the right effect. This makes the hair to look so much more natural.

Jill came to me for dreadlocks with extensions

dreadlocks Sep 03, 2017

This is Jill, she came to me to start her dreadlock journey, she wanted some loose hair and the rest of the hair in dreadlocks. In this pic I share with you the importance of having clean lines between the loose hair and the dreadlocks. You have to make sure to also brush the hair on a regular basis just to make sure that the loose hair does not dread together with the dreadlocks.

Here is a picture of Jill before I started to make her dreadlocks

Jill was worried that her hair was to thin to get dreadlocks done. This is not true at all, you just have to addapt the hair after what it is that you want to do.

Here you can see how I decided to devid the hair up when I was making the partings between the loose hair and the hair that was going to be dreadlocks.
